CLAC Coffee Network Round Table

Following their 2008 regional gathering in Managua, the Coordinator of Small-Scale Producer from Latin America (CLAC) hosted a gathering of their Coffee Network to discuss some of the important issues facing Fair Trade. Cooperative Coffees was among the invited importers participating in this August 29 Round Table.

BALLE Conference

 The Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE) was created in 2001 in Philadelphia to strengthen and connect local business networks dedicated to building strong local living economies. The 2008 BALLE conference is a gathering of social entrepreneurs in sectors like green building, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, local food systems and independent retail joining together with community leaders and government officials to network about the requirements to build an economy that values long-term growth and sustainability.  Read more...

After the first two Fair Trade International Symposiums held in Montreal (Canada) in 2002 and 2006, the third symposium took place from May 14th to 16th 2008 in Montpellier (France). The topic of this symposium was “New Dimensions in Fair Trade: Implications and Challenges”. Monika Firl from CoopCoffees/CoopSol in Montreal and Santiago Paz López from Cepicafe, Peru were there to share their experience in the world of Fair Trade and expand their networks.
