IFAT Global Journey

The Global Journey introducing the new IFAT mark to a world of increasingly conscious consumer came to a close in Brussels, Belgium May 17th on the heels of the 2007 IFAT International Conference.
The IFAT Global Journey showcasing the Fair Trade
Organization mark and message began in Mumbai in January 2004. From there, it
has traversed India, Asia, Europe and much of South America in 2005, continuing
across Africa, North America and the Pacific Rim in 2006. In 2007 the IFAT
banner returned to Europe, this time in its final leg of the long journey,
accompanied by hundreds of the biennial conference attendees and the lively
music of Les Passeurs de Rêves – to the delight of a curious crowd in
the Brussels central plaza.
Closing the three-year journey, the mayor of Brussels ceremoniously added his signature to the banner and applauded IFAT and its members for creating economic justice and solidarity between people in the Global South and in the North through alternative trade.
