Joining Cooperative Coffees
Process for Joining Cooperative Coffees
After nine years of development and growth in our historical "stronghold regions" on the East Coast of the USA - we are looking West of the Rockies (both USA and Canada) as our priority region for membership growth.
Cooperative Coffees typically accepts one or two new members per year. The application process takes 3-6 months depending on the timing of our Membership Committee meetings, Board of Director meetings and the applicant's ability to provide information as needed. We take this process quite seriously and ask all applicants to think carefully about "going into business" with more than 20 coffee roasters who could at any given time be considered both colleagues and potential competitors in the marketplace. The future of Cooperative Coffees depends upon our roaster/members' continued ability to set personal differences aside in the name of further developing our model importing cooperative and the resulting greater goal of increasing our equitable trade relationships with a growing number of producer partners.
For roasters who might NOT be interested in becoming a member of a cooperative, but who are dedicated to the concepts and practices of Fair Trade and Organic coffees - we do offer a selection of good quality spot coffee for sale to non-members and/or could develop a green sourcing proposal from some of our well established producer partners.
