Timeline for Membership in Cooperative Coffees

Send the following via email to our Membership Committee:

• Completed application
• Letter of Recommendation from Cooperative Coffees member.
  
• Report indicating total green coffee purchases during the last 12 months (by month/by coffee origin)
  
• Examples of promotional materials addressing your public communication of your organization’s mission, particularly with regards to “fair trade.

Membership Committee will review all applications and may require additional information from applicant. A telephone interview with one or more committee members will be arranged. One month.

At the next Membership meeting, your application will be reviewed and moved forward to the board or held while waiting on additional information. Two months.

Once your application leaves the committee it will be presented to the board of directors by the Membership Committee for discussion and a vote. Two months

If approved for provisional membership, applicant must then provide the following:

• $2,500 purchase of one share of common stock.
• Booking for at least 80 bags of green coffee – or 30% of total annual green purchases – whichever is greater. (80 bags is the annualized minimum level of participation required of all members.)

Some coffee may be available for immediate purchase. However, most bookings will begin during the following spring.

Consideration for full membership after 12 months of provisional membership – which typically coincides with 6-8 months of actual participation through green purchases from the cooperative.

Full membership is granted after completing the purchase of one $5,000 share of preferred stock.

Process typically takes 3-4 months from date of initial application
