The inception of Conscious Coffees in 1996 began with the simple idea that coffee is a truly unique and wonderful beverage. As we moved into our infant business life we were abruptly shattered with the realization of a precarious coffee industry that impoverished and compromised the most important people within it, the coffee producers. Thereupon, we resolved that a refined approach to our business philosophies was needed. If we were to participate in this industry we would engage in a partnership with our producers that included 100% commitment to the economic, social, and environmental health of their communities.
We believe that it is our responsibility to use the vehicle of business as a force for positive change, not as a vehicle to gain wealth at the expense of others. Each person in our cycle from farmer to consumer is able to participate in socially just and environmentally responsible partnership. |
